A promo copy (with voice-overs) of the new Nightwish album - Dark Passion Play has been leaked on the Innernet. This is the first album with their new lead singer - Anette Olzon - after their previous (famous) lead singer Tarja Turunen was kicked out. I only gave the two proposed singles - Eva and Amaranth - a listen and I can tell you that they barely registered as they were boring and uncatchy.
Nightwish are not a great band or anything, but they generally have a couple of good songs on each album and Tarja's vocals used to add an X-factor. That is sadly missing in the two songs I've listened to thus far. Anette Olzun sounds like an American Idol runner-up and the instrumentation is nothing to write home about to boot. A friend and I are trying to decide whose pronunciation is worse - Tarja's or Anette's.
Disappointing. I wish Tarja would stop releasing crappy Christmas albums and put together a metal band already.
