Linking Adsense account to Google Analytics account

The new Google Analytics interface is quite nice if often annoying. One of the many issues I have been having with it is linking the Adsense account for one particular domain to its equivalent Analytics account. Most of the help documentation is for the previous version of the Analytics interface and the newer docs are not terribly helpful at all. The latter simply keeps asking me to go to the Admin tab and linking the Adsense account by clicking on it or something trivial like that.

Closing all message windows in mIRC

I was up to no good on mIRC earlier today and found my screen full of message and fserv tabs/windows. While it certainly is fun clicking away at each window and closing it manually, that would only be if I had some sick fascination with RSI. A little digging unearthed a few commands that helped alleviate the process:

Recovering an accidentally closed tab in Google Chrome

I have gotten used to relying on Opera's tab recycle bin feature to reopen closed tabs. However, earlier today, I found myself accidentally closing a tab in Google Chrome, and what's more I had an unfinished forum comment which I had worked on for 20 minutes in said tab. When I saw no recycler icon in the tab bar and no obvious feature in the preferences or options sections, I panicked.

Gmail's account suspension quirk

Earlier today, I set up a gmail account for an elderly acquaintance of mine. Due to his really forgetful nature, once I created his account, I logged into it and mailed myself the username and password. As soon as I clicked "send" however, I found that I had been logged out of gmail. Trying to log back in proved futile as I was met with a "This account has been suspended" message!

Luckily I speak Leet

This is the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Opera 10 beta for Linux

With the advent of the Opera 10 Beta, I highly recommend that users check it out or upgrade to it. The biggest news is that one of my primary gripes, i.e., the lack of inline spell-checking, has been solved.

JDownloader: Automate Rapidshare, Megaupload et al.

Besides P2P, the rise of sites like Rapidshare, Megaupload and the like have provided another avenue for pirates (and other legitimate users of course ...) to peddle their wares. Unlike P2P, there is no upload and related politics involved and matters are attended to with straightforward HTTP downloads (which are usually quite speedy). Most of these sites have a premium option as well as a hamstrung free option.

Firefox and SSL pages with self-signed certificates

If you're a firefox user (and usually, also a programmer), you've very likely come across situations where you are confronted with an error page while accessing an https address, because the certificate is self-signed. Getting around it involves adding an exception, which requires a multitude of steps ...

Konqueror, sFTP and FiSH

I just found out yesterday that Konqueror natively supports sFTP and another protocol which I wasn't aware of named FiSH. To use either, just enter sftp://foo@example.com or fish://foo@example.com as necessary in the Konqueror URL bar to create a connection. My fledgling experience with FiSH seems to indicate that it's considerably faster than sFTP.

New fad: MP3 search sites

The latest fad going around is the host of MP3 search sites that are cropping up all over the place. Most of these are built off Google searches and can be hit-or-miss. But they're pretty useful for finding that rare track you always wanted, but couldn't find ...
