Nowadays, if you are curious about a band (or in some cases, not die-hard enough to want their entire discography) and are looking for an introductory or a best-of compilation to wraps your ears around, something or the other will always piss you off. The recording industry in their insatiable greed indulge in marketing gimmickery and cheap ploys to boost sales in any way possible and it is annoying to say the least.

Removing specific audio streams from DVDs and VOB files

I was in a predicament earlier today where I was stuck with a downloaded (ripped) DVD which was slightly larger than the capacity of a single layer disc. Fortunately, the disc came with an optional Italian audio component, which, when removed, would allow me to burn the DVD without any issues. While I was aware of DVD rippers where you can specify the audio streams that you would like to retain, I was looking for a solution that would work on the VOB files directly.

M×0

Yesterday, I randomly picked up a manga named M×0 as the general premise looked a little interesting: a boy is accidentally enrolled into a magic school and has to pretend that he is an all powerful magician even though he has no talent. But, unfortunaltely, it fizzled off after the first few chapters and all in all was a waste of my time.

I'm pretty sure most people are aware of the huge amount of content available on sites like YouTube, Megavideo etc., and of the existence of hangers-on sites such as Keepvid, Clip Nabber etc. as well that let you leech the FLV files directly. Furthermore, I'm also sure that you've noticed many of these leech sites not working more often than not nowadays.

SotD: Rage against the machine - Killing in the name

With its distinctive opening, high energy riffs and extremely political lyrics, RATM's Killing in the Name (of) is probably one of the most well known metal songs of the 90s and their albums are seeing a strong resurgence in my playlist considering my general mood nowadays. "Fuck you! I won't do what you tell me" is a sentiment that frequents my clenched brain very often these days and this song suits my demeanour very well during these times.
