Amarok's folly

The title sounds like the name of a fantasy novel ... but I'm of course talking (or, as you, stranger of the Internet, will find out, ranting) about the KDE audio player. Amarok is the default audio player for KDE which makes it the default audio player of Kubuntu, my Linux distro of choice. Now, some history before I begin spitting all over you. I usually use Windows as my primary desktop.

Compilations albums and live/demo tracks

Nowadays, if you are curious about a band (or in some cases, not die-hard enough to want their entire discography) and are looking for an introductory or a best-of compilation to wraps your ears around, something or the other will always piss you off. The recording industry in their insatiable greed indulge in marketing gimmickery and cheap ploys to boost sales in any way possible and it is annoying to say the least.

The joys of the Eclipse update manager

The Eclipse 3.3.1.1 update manager has to be the most annoying updater ever fucking written. What a pile of refuse :/

I'm sure that the Eclipse developer community has their own private updater as I am certain no sane man can stand working with it.

Issues:

  • If I want the update to run in the background, I should also be able to run it in the foreground.
  • If I cancel the update, it should be cancelled immediately. It should not be "cancelling" for the rest of eternity and require a restart of Eclipse to get done.
