Kubuntu: Post installation tasks

This is something of a personal reminder of the stuff I do after a fresh installation of Kubuntu:

  • Install the following apps:
    1. synaptic
    2. firefox
    3. pidgin
    4. whois
    5. traceroute
    6. sun-javaX-jre
    7. sun-javaX-plugin
    8. sun-javaX-fonts
    9. vlc
    10. mplayer
    11. vim
    12. vim-gtk
    13. msttcorefonts
    14. qcomicbook
    15. flashplugin-nonfree
    16. unrar
    17. unace
    18. soundkonverter
    19. mkvtoolnix
    20. lame
    21. mencoder
    22. konversation
    23. beep
    24. picard
  • Server / development related stuff:
    1. samba
    2. php
    3. mysql
    4. mtop
    5. httpd
    6. phpmyadmin
    7. cvs
    8. subversion
    9. Eclipse
    10. cmake
    11. automoc
    12. build-essential
    13. gettext
  • Enable 3rd party / unsupported repositories for the following installations:
    1. Opera
    2. Chrome
    3. Skype
  • Install the following firefox extensions and dictionaries:
    1. webdeveloper
    2. firebug
    3. tamperdata
    4. adsense notifier (click 'em ads tyvm :P)
    5. Yslow
    6. Flashblock
    7. English and Spanish dictionaries

Current command:

sudo aptitude install synaptic firefox pidgin whois traceroute vlc mplayer vim vim-gtk msttcorefonts qcomicbook unrar unace soundkonverter mkvtoolnix lame mencoder konversation beep picard ktorrent mtop make automoc build-essential gettext samba php5 mysql-server apache2 subversion cvs phpmyadmin
