Today's Song Of The Day is an instrumental from the OST of the anime Kenichi. I'm not sure of the artist's name, but what a killer riff! I've been listening to it non-stop for the past couple of hours and I'm still not tired of it!
This short (1:21) adrenalin-pumping instrumental is built on a very classic 90's sounding metal riff and later moves on to a ripping solo which incorporates some quality shredding, melody, harmonies and a couple of sweep-picks to round it off. The riff, tone and solo bring into mind a certain Mon. Marty Friedman. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that this sounds (and I'm complimenting the musician here) like a second cousin of Megadeth's rendition of the Duke Nukem theme song.
